My go-to products
September can be a shocking time for your body--new routines and schedules, stress, and changing weather can all wreak havoc on your hair, skin and body. Here are a few of my favourite products to help you get through the month.
I love oils and there’s nothing more nourishing for your body than an oil especially when your skin is super dry from the summer sun. The new Q10 Firming Body Oil from Nivea has a really unique formula so it absorbs quickly into the skin so you can apply it and you don’t have to worry about it being sticky or waiting for it to dry before you get dressed. It’s infused with avocado oil and it’s great for all skin types. It’s $15.99 at drugstores.
In the summer we all look good with a little colour, which can quickly fade in fall. To keep that glow I love Jergens Natural Glow Firming Daily Moisturizer for body and JNG for face. It’s great for extending the summer glow because it comes in two shades – fair to medium and medium to tan. It’s the most gradual and flawless sunless tanner out there in my opinion, but the best part is that the body moisturizer also reduces the appearance of cellulite making your skin visibly firmer in just 7 days. It’s $12.99 at drugstores.
If you're not ready for Botox, a great daily product to use is Snoxin II, and it’s from Indeed Labs which is a Canadian company that’s all about adapting technological advances in skincare and bringing consumers the latest ingredients at affordable prices. Snoxin II is a supercharged face serum with a peptide called XEP-018 which is a facial line fighter that relaxes fine lines and wrinkles by blocking the signals sent from the brain to facial muscles to contract. It almost instantly improves the appearance of lines and wrinkles while maximizing moisture retention. You see a softening of the lines in your forehead and around your eyes in just a few days. There’s also an eye cream called Eysilix II you can use day or night to brighten skin and minimize the appearance of dark circles, reduce puffiness and improve skin’s elasticity and firmness. Both products are less than $30 each and available at Shoppers Drug Mart in September.
If you're feeling like your skin is starting to slack, Silk'n Titan is an awesome anti-aging device that works with harmonized energy technology to reduce wrinkles and lift facial contours. tightens skin and reduces sun and age spots. It's $299 at silkn.com or Shoppers Drug Mart.
For my hair, I’m obsessed with deep conditioning. Pantene 3 Min Miracle Deep Conditioner only takes 3 minutes but can be used every time you wash your hair. There are 4 diff formulas so you can choose the one right for your hair type – Daily Moisture Renewal is best for dry or brittle hair, like I have. They have a higher concentration of condition actives to provide hydration without weighing hair down.
I love any sort of masks – but my latest obsession are Life Brand foot masks. They’re only $5 at Shoppers Drug Mart and they’re great for pampering. There are different formulas- this exfoliating mask has citrus extracts and the moisturizing one has shea butter and coconut oil, and they smell great too. You just slide them on leave them on for 20 min and your feet will feel great.
Finally, I stash these nail kits (nail file, buffer, brush, clippers) from Giant Tiger in every bathroom to get the kids in the habit of keeping their nails looking good, since the dirt under the nail look may be OK in summer but not so much at school.
