Worth the splurge?

Worth the Splurge?

Sometimes it’s great to find a steal, but for some beauty products, it’s really worth the splurge. I’ve rounded up some products I am loving right now that are worth spending a little extra on,  because they’re so effective and will show you real results.

First up is eye cream. We blink 10 thousand times a day, so that’s like walking 5 miles a day with your eyes. Therefore, rapid eye movements becomes the 5th reason for aging so I think it’s worth the splurge for a good eye cream. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix has twice the hyaluronic acid and is a multi-repair skin formulation product. It’s $88 and available at all department stores.

Another place to splurge is your skincare. I love the brand Amorepacific--it's a high-performance, luxury skincare brand from South Korea that's all about achieving health and beauty with natural botanicals. This Vintage Single Extract Essence is sourced from single extract green tea that’s hand-picked from their own tea garden and the leaves are fermented and aged for 100 days then extracted drop by drop over 24 hours. This maintains they’re getting the best of the best of the natural ingredients into the essence. This is a superfood for your skin that you apply after cleansing and toning your skin to give you anti-aging benefits and smooth and even texture to your skin. It's available for $200 at Sephora and Holt Renfrew and Nordstrom.

Next up, to go a bit deeper into correcting wrinkles and sagging skin, this is a fantastic device that you can use at home, in just a few minutes a week. It’s called the Silk’n Titan and it’s an anti-aging device that works with harmonized energy technology to reduce wrinkles and lift the contours of the face that start to sag. You can use it on any area of the face and neck and it repairs collagen and elastin fibres that break down as we age from the inside out. It’s completely painless and there’s no recovery time. It’s $299 at Shoppers Drug Mart and London Drugs.

Obviously helping to prevent wrinkles is key, and I love Cilque’s lustrous 100% silk pillowcases. They’re a Canadian brand that offers luxurious 100% silk bedding, sheets, pillowcases and robes. Cilque uses 19 momme which is super high quality, and 100% mulberry silk charmeuse in all their products and because the fabric is so smooth sleeping on silk promotes anti-aging, prevents sleep creases, extends the length of your blowout and allows for temperature control by being cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They come in a range of colours and start at $69 at cilque.com

When it comes to acne, there’s only so much a tube of benzoyl peroxide can do. This is why I love this new Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask. The blue light targets acne-causing bacteria and the red light reduces inflammation in this mask that’s free of chemicals and UV light. It’s $45.97 at Walmart or Walmart.ca.

85% of Canadians would like to have whiter teeth. It gives us confidence and creates a good first impression. But the #1 favourite drink of Canadians is coffee – which is just one element that stains teeth. Crest has developed a product that illuminate your smile while eliminating these yellow teeth stains. Crest 3D Whitestrips with Light pairs the adhesive strip’s whitening agent with LED light to weaken the yellow stains and remove them. The device curves around your full smile and delivers professional level whitening in less than half the time of a regular Whitestrips kit in the comfort of your own home. It takes just 10 treatments of 1 hour – last 10 minutes light instead of a full month commitment of regular Whitestrips. They’re $120 at drugstores.

When it comes to lips NARS is the best at highly pigmented lip pencils. They’re precise and super long-lasting but they leave your lips really smooth because they have vitamin E and mango seed oil in them. $30 each at Sephora.
