Fall 2017 Beauty Trends
Fall is a huge season for new beauty innovations and launches, and I’ve brought along some of my favourites. Olay has launched two different moisturizers – their Age Defying Gel Moisturizer for normal skin and their Gel Cream Moisturizer for Dry Skin. The key ingredient here is one that is I would say the biggest buzz in skincare and that’s hyaluronic acid. This attracts water and binds it so that it gives skin a smooth finish and is extremely hydrating. It plumps, firms and improves elasticity and repairs collagen and it’s suitable for all skintypes. With the season’s changing it’s a great time to switch up your skin care to something much more hydrating. You can use this one morning and night to face and neck. And the price is excellent - $18 at drugstores.
As we move into fall one of the first things to go is that summer glow. You know I love self-tanners and Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan is fairly new to Canada. It’s a self tan that develops in just one hour and lasts up to seven days. Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner use it and the formulation is paraben and oil free so it won’t clog pores. You use the mitt to apply to it’s foolproof and streak free, and it’s available in three shades. It goes on so quickly and you can put your clothes back on after 30 seconds. It’s $19.95 for the tan and $9.95 for the mitt at cocoabrown.ca
When it comes to lips – it’s all about high impact. Bright, bold, intense shades that have staying power. Estee Lauder Pure Color Love is a new lip launch that’s targeting that younger audience but I love all the shades and that none of the formulations are drying--even the matte lipsticks (which aren't super matte). 30 shades in 4 different looks, exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart for $28.
Surfer blonds, platinum tones and baleage -- all hot fall hair looks and they all incorporate having dyed blond hair, which, if you don't maintain, is going to look dull and brown super-fast. John Frieda Highlight Activating Shampoo and Conditioner don't deposit colour but use sunflower and white tea to provide maximum blonde impact. The products gently remove dulling build up and residue that can make blonde look dark and dull. The shampoo and conditioner amplify shine without adding or depositing colour. Available for $10.99 at drugstores.
For nails – it’s all about having healthy nails and a new trend is breathable polishes – these are from Quo by ORLY from Shoppers Drug Mart in 3 shades – De-Stressed Denim which is denim inspired, Down to Earth which is the perfect neutral taupe and Fairy Godmother which is shimmery. They complement each other so you can mix and match and the breathable technology means it adheres better to the nail (plus you don't need a base or top coat! Yesss.) All $10.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart.
I think we often overlook men --- and they want to look good too! But they may not want to spend hours at various stores hunting down products, so I love that Giant Tiger has launched men's grooming products including O’Keeffe Working Hands Hand Cream, which is super hydrating, adding moisture but protecting the hands; as well as Nivea Cream, which is a great all over cream that men can use on their face, body and hands (I'm obsessed with it and I use it all the time, especially when I'm on a plane because it's so dry!) and Nivea Men Sensitive Skin After Shave Balm, which isn't drying because it doesn’t contain alcohol, it’s quick absorbing, and it has chamomile and vitamin E. All 3 products are under $10.
